Have you ever considered. . . . the true value of an Interior Designer. . . . .
A lovely client of mine, who already appreciated the role of interior design, began her project working closely with her architect and contractor. As the space began to take shape, she felt the moment was right to bring me on board.
Being introduced partway through a project can often present its challenges, but together we have carefully revisited the project, refining and reimagining elements before walls were finalised and plumbing set in place. These moments are invaluable. It is often within this window that an Interior Designer can bring clarity, reviewing layouts, circulation and how each space will truly function on a daily basis.
I find it incredibly exciting stepping into the bare bones of a space and seeing not only what is there, but what could be.
To gently introduce new ideas, to enhance flow and function, and to add layers of thoughtful detail that may not have previously been considered. This can be in the positioning of lighting to create atmosphere, the reworking of joinery to maximise both storage and beauty, or the consideration of how sight lines move through a home, creating a sense of calm and cohesion.
Even at this stage, there is an opportunity to influence important decisions. Finishes can be refined to ensure harmony throughout, architectural details can be softened or elevated, and practical elements such as electrical layouts, furniture placement and spatial zoning can be thoughtfully aligned with how the client will truly live in the space.
Collaboration is at the heart of it all. Working alongside the architect, contractor and skilled trades, ensuring every element aligns seamlessly. Communication becomes the thread that holds everything together.
As the project now moves into its final stages, I find myself guiding and overseeing, ensuring every last detail is considered with care. From the layering of materials and textures to the final placement of lighting and furnishings, it is these considered decisions that bring a home to life. A few changes to the kitchen a change in appliance for function and aesthetics, and for the bathrooms which make the difference, location of taps and niches again function and aesthetics.
While it is always beneficial to involve an Interior Designer from the very beginning, I understand that every client is unique and every project is different. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple conversation or discovery meeting which opens up possibilities, offering not only beautiful ideas, but practical, considered solutions that truly enhance how a space is lived in.
To look at a home not just as it is, but as it could be, to have that vision. To consider how it will feel, function, and evolve for those who will live there.
If you have ever wondered how an Interior Designer could support your project, I would always encourage that first step.
A complimentary discovery meeting is time well spent.
I would love to hear from you.
